I am constantly reminded that the Lord is always on time.
“At the right time, I the Lord will make it happen”
Isaiah 60:22
Many times, I have found that I am the one who rushes to get things done especially in a society that thrives on moving a hundred miles per hour. It’s a discipline to learn to slow down and trust God but it’s so necessary. And by God’s grace, he is faithful to help us learn to trust and depend on him alone. He knows our needs, our thoughts, our hearts and knows when to give and what to give. He created us and I know he has our best interests at heart. The question is, do we surrender these desires and plans to him? Do we allow Jesus to truly be Lord over our lives? Do we allow the Fathers WILL be done and not our own? Something to always remember is that as children of God, we have died to our old selves and now living for Christ. Our lives are his and we must constantly fixate our thoughts on him. It’s important to slow down and be still. In scripture, it says, “Be Still and Know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalms 46:10 God knows that at times we are moving too fast and wanting to rush to the finish line but that’s not how life operates. I have learned that each step matters. I pray to continue to take the next step the Lord illuminates for me into the right path, the right direction the Lord has for me.
The waiting season can be for things big and small. As a woman who works full-time and goes to school part-time, I often find myself needing to wait on the Lord for his guidance and help with navigating it all. I found that it’s important to stay in prayer but also wait for him to speak. God is not in a rush. He does not operate on time like we do. God has eyes over the beginning, the end, and everything in between. Learning not to go ahead of him and remove my want to control my life with him. It is often a blessing to be in the waiting season because it removes the control aspect as I do not have any control over the next destiny the Lord has for me. Only in his perfect time will I reach it. I am grateful for that.
What to do when you are waiting on the Lord? Worship him! Give him your highest praise and thanksgiving! Increase your prayer life and draw near to God. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” James 4:8a Seek him now while he can be found and allow him to work in your life. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” Isaiah 55:6 Continue to read your bible and even start a devotional that will keep you consistent in the word. We often know our creator by his word so its important to read your bible daily!
I leave a question with you: when was the time you felt like you were rushing and were reminded to slow down and be still?
I love you and Jesus does too!!
