And be not conformed to this world; but ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God
Romans 12:2
Being born again, you become a new creation in Christ! Allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our thinking and attitudes, is important. God’s word says “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God – truly righteous and holy.” Ephesians 4:21-24
We have a new life to live that is following God’s will. We are to now live out the light he has given to us. Matthew 5:14-16 reads, “You are the light of this world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
We are called to be set apart because dark and light cannot co-mingle. We live in a dark world and are being called to be separate. We live in the world but we are not of the world. SO, we cannot and I mean CANNOT conform to this world. All this world offers is the lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and the pride of life. (1 John 2:16) This world’s father is the enemy, the devil. The world and the things of it are vanity and fleeting and the one thing we can truly hold onto is our Lord, His unchanging right hand and His already spoken word.
Praise Jesus for saving us but there is still a sanctification process through His word and the working of the Holy Spirit. There is still a race we have to run to the end. And thank God He doesn’t allow us to do this on our own. He gives us His Spirit who helps us to remove old ways, habits and thoughts and fill us with God’s ways, thoughts and laws.
I was once ruled by the enemy and this world but now, born again into God’s kingdom, I am ruled by God! Thank you, Jesus!
